There’s a lot to be said for companies that take care of their employees. Not only are workers happier, but the business benefits in various ways – including increased retention and productivity.
Take, for example, MJ Insurance, which has been named as one of the Best Places to Work in Indiana in each of the past two years of the Indiana Chamber-led program. In fact, a feature story on teamwork in the workplace in the 2010 BizVoice® special section included comments from MJ leader Michael H. Bill.
It’s time for another shout out for MJ Insurance’s most recent accomplishment: being ranked as one of the top 100 privately held agencies in the U.S. by Insurance Journal, a biweekly trade pub.
Companies on this particular list, the “Top 100 P/C Agencies in 2010” (P/C = property/casualty), are ranked so by voluntary online submissions from agencies, brokerages and best estimates via public information sources. MJ is No. 78 on the list with $117.1 million in property/casualty premiums written in 2009, almost a 5% increase over the previous year. The editors of the list noted that only 42% of the agencies appearing on the list increased their revenue volumes in 2009.
In a release from the company, Bill offers thanks to his employees.
“We are pleased to be included in this prestigious group of agencies,” the company CEO says. “These current economic times have been challenging for many businesses and to succeed in this climate is a testament to all MJ employees and their dedication to our clients and partners.”
